Anson is an established actor, singer, and director, best known for his role as gullible, well-intentioned singer Warren “Potsie” Weber on the television series Happy Days (1974–1984), a role for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film. In 1977, he recorded and released a single, “Deeply” which peaked at #93 on the Hot 100. He also directed several episodes of the TV series 7th Heaven.

As a businessman, Anson opened the Big Al’s chain of diners in 1987 with his former “Happy Days” costar Al Molinaro. The business eventually folded.
